Last May we went ten full days to the Galapagos Islands, an indescribable trip that fulfilled childhood dreams and emptied a big part of the bucket list. The wildlife we saw over there was overwhelming and since the animals are not afraid of humans at all you can get really close, while of course always keeping a distance in mind, not feeding them or trying to get their attention.
The archipelago has some nineteen islands in total, and the uninhabited ones (fifteen) absolutely are magical and untouched. We travelled the eastern and northern route by catamaran: from Isla Santa Cruz to Isla Cristobal (Punta Pitt – Kicker’s Rock – Cerro Brujo), Isla Santa Fé, North Seymour, Isla Genova (Darwin Bay – Prince Philip Steps), Isla Bartolome, Chinese Hat and back to Isla Cruz. Afterwards we went with the ferry to Isla Isabela and did a couple of day trips over there too.
From playful sea lions, gigantic sea tortoises, cute seahorses, swimming penguins, all kinds of sharks (hammerheads are so cool!), a plethora of birds, munching sea turtles and flocks of rays; the list of animals we encountered goes on an on.
