PHOTOS: A walk in Cahuita National Park in Costa Rica

When you think of the Caribbean shores, things like a laidback vibe, coconut dishes and calypso might just pop up in your mind. People do not necessarily come to this side of Costa Rica for the wildlife, but if you’re a big fan of mother nature, the eastern side has some pretty pictures to offer you as well.

The National Park in Cahuita for example stars a splendid 8 km hike along beaches that are cut straight out a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie. Start your tour from the Kelly Creek station at the tiny town of Cahuita and walk all the way around Punta Cahuita towards the Puerto Vargas beach. Apart from the stunning beaches and tropical plants, the park hides a lot of furry friends and reptiles too.

A year ago I already wrote about what you kind of animals you can see in the park, but since I’ve been a dozen more times in the park I thought it’s about time for an update, so here you go: my best shots of the National Park Cahuita!

Here’s where to find that beaut of a park!
