GoPro time: the Galapagos Islands underwater

Most people probably think that visiting the Galapagos is all about walking the islands itself. But so much is going on underwater as well. Best is to book a tour or boat cruise that includes some snorkel trips.

You actually won’t even need to dive. Though we both have our PADI, we already saw so much with just a bit of swimming. Diving would perhaps enhance the feeling of being in the ocean with the animals, but if you want to save yourself some dinero (two tank dives start from some $175,-), just go aboard with a snorkel set. Oh, and don’t forget your underwater camera!

Here are our best underwater clips of ten days in the Galapagos:

Swimming with sea lions, so clumsy as they are on land, so elegant they move in the ocean:

You have to wait a second; but then you see them coming… the coolest sharks of them all:

A green sea turtle nomming on the bottom of the sea, with me in the background:

Flock of Golden Cownose Rays gracefully floating by:

Sea horse, the cutest creatures of the ocean:

Spotted eagle ray (it looks like a maze on the flip side of their wings!)

Cave full of whitetip reef shark:
